Stop Misusing Your iPhone — Change These 6 Key Settings Right Away

These features can provide excellent power to the iPhone, but many are not better equipped for daily use; they are pre-installed defaults. Here are a few of the changes which should be adopted immediately for better performance, better security and some time saved just from convenience — depending on insights gleaned from a recent research.

Console Update Announcing Noises

If you are frustrated by constant iOS update pop-ups, workaround is here. The system has a hidden toggle to suppress update notifications in a less intrusive way so that one can keep working unencumbered, while still downloading necessary software patches at will.

Speed Up Animations

To be honest, the cool slick motion effects and the parallax visuals make iOS really beautiful, but in reality, they slow down your device. Go to Settings → Accessibility → Motion and decrease or turn them off. Makes your phone snappier while older models probably last longer on battery as well.

Lock Down Tracking and Privacy

By default, most apps assume that you will allow them to track your movements. This is damaging to privacy. Go to Settings -> Privacy And Security -> Tracking, and disable Allow Apps to Request to Track. Check location permissions per application: there is generally no need for constant, precise location sharing.

Keep Yourself Safe from Rogue Wi-Fi Networks:

Automatically joining open Wi-Fi networks might become a threat to security as it can expose you to a malicious “evil twin” hotspot. Disable auto-join for public network: Settings → Wi-Fi → Auto-Join → Off. Tom’s Guide

Two-Factor Authentication is Strong Security:

Securing your Apple ID with two-factor authentication (2FA) is an absolute must. Even if someone guesses the password they will still not be able to access the account as they will also need the second verification. Enable via Settings → [Your Name] → Sign-In & Security.

Fast Privacy Reset Using Safety Check

“Safety Check” is the new feature added to iOS 16+ that will allow instant control of how shared data with apps, people, and devices can be revoked/ stopped/ removed from trusted devices or a passcode can be changed or an Apple ID password changed. Settings → Privacy & Security → Safety Check.

Why Are These Significant?

Less Interruptions and More Effective Focus: Noticing whenever updates come out nags you less.

  • Faster, More Fluid Interaction: With motion reduction, the interface feels more responsive and quick.
  • Improved Privacy: You now select which applications can track you — and when.
  • Completely Cancellation: Unsafe Wi-Fi and 2FA settings narrow the castle down quite dramatically.
  • Fast Recoveries: Safety Check makes it simple to reset all permissions in a hurry-ideal if ever you start to feel like things went too far.
