Comedy duo Tiffany Haddish and Ariel Spears were sued in state court for claimed sex abuse against the kid and his equally underage sibling, and Haddish later apologized for her role in a comedy sketch where she reportedly coerced a 7-year-old child into doing sexually provocative behaviors.

A complaint has been filed against Tiffany Haddish and fellow comedian Aries Spears, accusing them of sexual violence, sexual harassment, and sexual abuse of a juvenile. Tiffany Haddish is speaking out about her “regret” about participating in the sketch at the core of the case.

Because the lawsuit is still pending, Haddish stated on Instagram on Monday that there is “very little that I can say right now.”

Clearly, even though this comedy was meant to be humorous, it wasn’t at all funny, and I regret having consented to act in it greatly, she said.

Jane Doe, a 22-year-old woman who is the legal guardian of her brother John Doe, a child who was born in 2007, filed a lawsuit on his behalf on Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court. According to the lawsuit, Haddish and Spears attacked the woman and her brother in LA when they were both still juveniles.

According to the lawsuit, Haddish has been Jane and John Doe’s mother’s “longtime family friend.” In the lawsuit, a “Funny or Die” production from roughly eight years ago is referred to as a “soft porn molestation movie of Mr. Doe” and is described as one of several incidents of grooming and molestation. The contention in the lawsuit is that the skit was accessible until last May via the company’s web channels.

Haddish posted on Instagram, saying, “I genuinely look forward to being able to share a lot more about this issue as soon as I can.

The accusations were first deemed “bogus” by Haddish’s attorney.

According to Haddish’s attorney Andrew Brettler, the plaintiff’s mother “has been trying to raise these spurious accusations against Ms. Haddish for numerous years.” Every lawyer who first took on her case—and there were a number of them—finally abandoned it after it was obvious that the allegations were false and that Ms. Haddish would not be blackmailed.

The complaint asserts that John and Jane Doe both suffer from social problems, and John Doe also has anxiety and despair as a result of his experiences.

The lawsuit asserts that Haddish and Spears’ actions caused “the plaintiffs to be traumatized for life,” and later adds: “Upon information and belief, Haddish made Plaintiff Jane Doe feel comfortable and special, but this was all a grooming tactic by Haddish to entice and coerce both children into filming sexually explicit child pornography skits, similar to the manner in which Giselle (sic) Maxwell groomed young girls for Jeffrey Epstein.”

The complaint claims that the mother of the plaintiffs previously sought to negotiate a $15,000 settlement with Spears over the footage of John Doe but was unable to do so because of her “mental condition” and a few errors made throughout the judicial procedure.

The plaintiffs’ requested financial compensation is not stated in the lawsuit.
