U.S. envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff are currently in Doha, Qatar, where they are meeting with Qatari officials and mediators, but they will not hold direct talks with Iranian representatives, according to Qatar’s foreign ministry.

Speaking on Tuesday, foreign ministry spokesman Majed Al Ansari said the two U.S. envoys are in the Qatari capital to discuss a range of regional issues with mediators.

“Mr. Steve Witkoff and Mr. Jared Kushner are here in Doha to meet with mediators, with Qatari officials, and the talks will be around all regional issues… including, of course, negotiations with Iran, but also including Lebanon,” Al Ansari said, as quoted by AFP.

He clarified that Kushner and Witkoff are not in Doha to conduct direct negotiations with Iranian officials.

“They are not here for their negotiations with the Iranians,” he added.

Al Ansari also confirmed that the $6 billion in frozen Iranian assets has not yet been transferred to Tehran.

The meetings in Doha are expected to focus on broader regional developments, including discussions related to Iran and Lebanon, while Qatar continues its role as a mediator in diplomatic efforts.
