What We Know So Far About Omicron Variant
My Geek Score: The world’s population is busy recovering from the 2nd wave of covid-19 but not after so long. Another mutant of Covid-19 known as B.1.1529, identified as “Omicron” by the World Health Organization (WHO), was found on 9th November in Spain & Southern African countries. In addition, Omicron is classified as a “variant of concern” due to its spreading capacity & it is also believed that it could be the deadliest covid-19 variants of all.
What developments have been made on knowing more about this variant by scientists
“Omicron is no surprise to us since this is what viruses do, and this exact coronavirus is doing,” Says the WHO chief. But yet the authorities are taking possible precautions to save their countrymen from the new coronavirus variant.
“We’re learning more all the time about Omicron, but there’s still more to learn about its effect on transmission, the severity of disease, and the effectiveness of tests, therapeutics, and vaccines,” says Dr. Tedros (WHO Chief).
In addition, scientists are already claiming that the new variant can outcross all the past coronavirus variants & can be deadliest of all due to its high transfer capability.
Upon seeing the destruction of SARS Cov-2, the countries like Europe and USA has to tighten their seat belts & are reading with comprehensive strategies on central, regional & state level to protect their county men.
The state government of Gujarat has announced night curfews for the next eight days. Travelers from South Africa, Spain, the UK, South Korea, Australia, Austria, Canada, Belgium, Japan, Norway, and Italy are banned internationally due to Omicron cases ranging from one to sixteen. Plus, the US & Indian governments have announced international travel bans until the new orders, taking the safety a notch up.
The happy start to 2022 is now in vain due to the travel & other revenue-generating sources. The delta variant of Covid-19 has sent the world’s economy towards recession, but this time, the hopes are still high & this time, the fallout may be less than 2020 – says some economist. From the 2020 experience, the business has adapted itself to the lockdown strategies, so it is expected that the 2022 growth will be 4.2%.
The Crypto market investors were still hiding from the bitcoin losses, & no later, the new coronavirus variant shook the global financial markets. Over the past few trading sessions, domestic stock markets have seen sudden volatility, but the investors are still worried about the overall impact of the new Omicron variant of Covid-19. Experts tracking the stocks say that the domestic stocks will not recover until mid-2022. Under the influence of the new Omicron variant, it is too early to predict what path the international stock market will lead into. There is still a ray of hope for bitcoin investors; this is so because its limited supply will act as a buffer against inflation.
